With the theatres closed around the world, digital releases have kicked up a notch. It started with smaller films like Raat Akeli Hai and Lootcase. However, now even bigger players like Akshay Kumar have turned to streaming platforms.
Laxmi Bomb, made on a budget of 125 crores will be available to watch on Disney+ Hotstar from next month. While it’s fate cannot be ascertained until November here a few movies you can look out for this month.
This Keerthy Suresh starrer Miss India wrapped up long back in 2019. It was all set to hit the theatres in April this year. However, the pandemic derailed its plans. Her other film Penguin was one of the first to hit an OTT platform. Miss India will also be going the same route and will be available to stream on Netflix starting this month.
The story revolves around Keerthy Suresh’s character and her desire to become the next Miss India. The movie will be a lighthearted comedy about her struggles to pursue her dreams.

This upcoming romance thriller is based on a book by the same name written by the playwright Daphne du Maurier. It stars Lily James, Armie Hammer, Kristin Scott Thomas in lead roles.
The movie follows a newly married young woman, Lily James, who moves in with her husband, a widower on his family estate. She tries to fit in despite being completely out of place and inexperienced in the circumstances. However, her attempts are marred by the “shadow” of her husband’s first wife, Rebecca. Her legacy being kept alive by Manderley’s sinister housekeeper Mrs. Danvers.
The Forty Year Old Version
Next up on our list is also a comedy from writer-director Radha Blank. The title is a play on the 2005 comedy The 40-Year-Old Virgin. It will be available on Netflix from October 9th. The film has already generated award buzz and has won U.S Dramatic Competition Directing Award at the Sundance Film Festival.
Radha, a down-on-her-luck NY playwright, is desperate for a breakthrough before 40. When she foils what seems like her last shot at success, she’s left with no choice but to reinvent herself as rapper RadhaMUSPrime. The Forty-Year-Old Version follows Radha as she vacillates between the worlds of Hip Hop and theater on a quest to find her true voice.
The Trial of Chicago 7
The Trial of the Chicago 7 follows a group of anti-Vietnam War protesters charged with conspiracy and crossing state lines with the intention of inciting riots at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. It features an ensemble cast. Including Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Sacha Baron Cohen, Daniel Flaherty, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Keaton, Frank Langella, John Carroll Lynch, Eddie Redmayne, Noah Robbins, Mark Rylance, Alex Sharp, and Jeremy Strong.
